Standards are more challenging.


The new standards are more rigorous than Kentucky’s previous standards and on par with what are taught in leading countries around the world. These standards ensure students, here in Kentucky and nationwide, are taught to higher minimum standards than before. In the past, many other states — not including Kentucky — adopted lower standards in order to appear more successful under No Child Left Behind. With the new standards, students are ensured the opportunity to learn the skills that are deemed most important and relevant to the world today.
