KY’s plan to implement federal Every Student Succeeds Act takes a step forward
Kentucky developed its plan over the past year-and-a-half with input from thousands of shareholders including educators, business and community leaders, parents and legislators. The plan outlines how the state will evaluate public schools and districts, including charter schools, and hold them accountable for equitably educating each child regardless of where he or she lives, the student’s race, ethnicity, family income or whether the student has a disability. – Jan 2, 2018
It is anticipated the state will resubmit its plan sometime around the end of January 2018

The Regulatory Review committee meet Friday, July 14 at 9 a.m.
The Accountability Work Groups, as support to the Accountability Steering Committee, have designed various elements of Kentucky’s new school accountability system under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) – the new federal law governing public education. The Regulatory Review Work Group reviews recommendations from the other committees and determines if the proposals meet the statutory requirements of ESSA, identifies any amendments to existing state statutes that may be required; and determines any state regulatory changes needed as a result of the proposals.
